ABC Analysis

The "ABC Analysis" tab is a dedicated analytics view within the "Profit dashboard" of SELLERLOGIC Business Analytics. It enables you to categorise and prioritise your product catalogue by segmenting products into three performance groups based on a configurable ranking criterion. The tab combines KPI widgets, a visual distribution overview, and a detailed product table to give you a complete picture of portfolio performance and product-level profitability. Four ranking methods are available to accommodate different analytical objectives: revenue, profitability, sales velocity, and demand variability (XYZ analysis).

The tab can be accessed via the following navigation path:

Business Analytics navigation bar > Dashboard > Profit dashboard > ABC Analysis

Note: When Business Analytics is in Freemium mode (no active subscription), all tab functionality remains visible and interactive, but the displayed data is limited to a reduced historical window.

1. Page settings and segments

The "ABC Analysis" tab uses the same global filters and segmentation settings as the entire "Profit dashboard" page. These controls are available in the left sidebar menu and in the toolbar above the tab content. Any selected filters or segmentation options are applied simultaneously to all data displayed on the “ABC Analysis” tab, ensuring that the analysis reflects the same scope and criteria as the rest of the dashboard.

For more information about the available filters, see Business Analytics | Page settings. For information about segments, see Business Analytics | Profit dashboard | Sidebar menu.

2. KPI widgets

The top section of the "ABC Analysis" tab displays four KPI widgets, each corresponding to a fixed time period — "Today", "Yesterday", "Current Month", and "Last Month". Together, they provide an at-a-glance comparison of performance across multiple time horizons without requiring the global date filter to be changed.

Each widget displays the following metrics for its fixed period:

  • Revenue — total revenue generated during the period.
  • Estimated margin — calculated estimated net profit margin (total income minus total expenses).
  • ROI — the ratio of estimated margin to net purchase price.
  • Margin % — estimated margin expressed as a percentage of revenue.
  • Order items — total number of order items. Clicking the value opens the "Orders" page, pre-filtered for the corresponding period.
  • Units — total units sold. Clicking the value opens the "Orders" page, pre-filtered for the corresponding period.

Each metric is accompanied by a directional trend arrow indicating the change relative to the equivalent prior period. An upward green arrow indicates an improvement; a downward red arrow indicates a decline. The period compared is determined by the date range set in the global page settings — for example, if the date range is 24 April – 30 April, metrics are compared against 17 April – 23 April. Hover over the arrow to see the exact percentage change. No tooltip is displayed if there is no change between the compared periods.

Each widget header includes two controls:

  • Info icon: Hover to display the data freshness timestamp: "Last update: [date, time]". This confirms when the underlying data was last synchronised.
  • Calendar icon: Opens a date picker specific to that widget. It supports the same preset list and manual "From / To" selection as the global date picker. Saving a custom date changes only that widget’s displayed period without affecting the global filter or any other widget.

3. "Distribution" widget

Below the KPI widgets, the "Distribution" widget provides a summarised overview of how products are spread across the three ranking groups. It updates dynamically whenever the "Ranking by" method or page settings are changed.

The widget displays one row per group. The group labels depend on the selected "Ranking by" method:

  • A, B, C — displayed when "Ranking by" is set to "Revenue", "Profitability", or "Velocity".
  • X, Y, Z — displayed when "Ranking by" is set to "XYZ".

Each row in the "Distribution" widget contains the following columns:

  • Group label: Single letter identifying the group (A / B / C or X / Y / Z).
  • Order items: Total count of order items attributed to products in this group for the selected date range.
  • Revenue: Total revenue generated by the group, displayed as a monetary value with the percentage share of total revenue in parentheses — for example, 2 082.28 AU$ (91.42%).
  • Bar chart: Proportional horizontal bar showing the group's revenue share visually. The bar width corresponds to the percentage value shown in the "Revenue" column.

4. "Ranking by" control

The "Ranking by" control is positioned directly above the product table, between the "Distribution" widget and the table header. It determines the criterion used to categorise and rank products into the three groups.

When the "Ranking by" option is changed:

  • The "Distribution" widget immediately recalculates and updates its group labels and values.
  • The group tabs switch between A / B / C and X / Y / Z labels and update product counts.
  • The product table reloads to show products belonging to the first group of the new method.

The following options are available in the "Ranking by" dropdown:

Option Group labels Ranking logic
XYZ X, Y, Z Groups products by demand variability. X = stable demand; Y = fluctuating demand; Z = highly irregular or intermittent demand (default).
Revenue A, B, C Ranks products by total sales volume (revenue generated). Group A contains the top revenue contributors, typically accounting for approximately 80% of total revenue.
Profitability A, B, C Ranks products by estimated margin. Group A contains the most profitable products.
Velocity A, B, C  Ranks products by daily units sold. Group A contains the fastest-moving products.

Note: An info icon next to the dropdown shows a tooltip describing each ranking method on hover.

5. Product table

The product table is the primary data grid on the "ABC Analysis" tab. It lists all products belonging to the currently selected group, with one row per product SKU per marketplace. The table is horizontally scrollable to accommodate all available columns.

5.1. Group tabs

Three group tabs are displayed directly above the product table. They allow you to navigate between the three product groups without changing any filter settings. Each tab shows the group letter and the number of products in that group in parentheses — for example, "X (19)". The count updates automatically when filters or the "Ranking by" method change. The active tab is underlined.

The meaning of each group is described in the table below:

Group (XYZ ranking) Group (Revenue / Profitability / Velocity ranking) Meaning
X A Top-priority products. Highest revenue, profitability, velocity, or the most stable demand. Typically, the smallest group by count but the largest by value contribution.
Y B Mid-tier products. Moderate performance or moderate demand fluctuation. Candidates for optimisation.
Z C Low-priority or irregular products. Lowest revenue, margin, or velocity — or highly unpredictable demand. Typically, the largest group by count but the smallest by value contribution.

5.3. Sorting and filtering

The "ABC Analysis" table features interactive column headers that support sorting and filtering, allowing you to customise the displayed data to your preferences:

  • Sorting options — each column header, except "Image", provides "Ascending" and "Descending" sorting options to quickly reorganise data. Sorting can be applied to only one column at a time; applying sorting to a different column overrides any previously applied sort order. The default sort is by the "BSR" column in descending order.
  • Filtering options — each column header, except "Image", includes an inline filter presented as a dropdown list or a text input field for live search, depending on the data type. Filtering allows you to narrow down the data by specifying values within column headers. Multiple column filters can be applied simultaneously.

For more information, see General | Common service features.

5.4. Pagination and table controls

The lower section of the table facilitates navigation through large datasets and offers tools to customise the table view.

  • Table settings — opens edit mode so you can manually resize columns by dragging the divider handles in the column headers. For more information, see General | Common service features | Table settings.
  • Table content — opens a configuration drawer where you can define column order and visibility. Use the checkboxes to show or hide individual columns, the pushpin icon to pin a column to the left side of the table while scrolling, and the drag handle to reorder columns. For more information, see General | Common service features | Table content.

In the bottom-left corner, the display count control allows selecting the number of entries per page (10, 25, 50, 75, or 100). The pagination control shows the current range of visible results, the total number of entries, and provides navigation through pages using arrow buttons or direct page number input.

5.5. Export data

An "Export data" button is positioned at the top right of the table section, aligned with the group tabs. It exports up to 100 rows of the currently displayed product table in CSV, XLS, or XLSX format. The export reflects the active group tab, applied column filters, current sort order, and all active global filters (date range, marketplace, currency, and account group).
